Welsh Corgi Dog Information

There are two types of Welsh Corgi's - The Pembroke Welsh Corgi and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi.

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Long and low with large pricked up ears and a large skull. With dark eyes the pembroke welsh corgi has a tail which is hard to notice. Pembroke Corgi's have a black nose. Their coat is water resistant and comes in many colours.

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi temperament: Hardy, Intelligent, Protective, Devoted to name but a few qualities this breed posesses. The protective streak in this breed can go into over-protective mode, so it is advisable to socialise it from a young age with all sorts of people and dogs.

The Cardigan Welsh Corgi

The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is similar in size to the Pembroke Corgi, only it has a long low tail and is usually heavier set as well.
Larger ears and more rounded paws too. They come in the following colours: Sable and Red, Black and Brindle, Black and Tan, Black, Blue Merle, and Brindle.. more often than not with white markings.

Temperament wise they are again similar to the pembroke corgis, only being a bit less on the sociable side and more territorial.
